Description Dario Savella 2018-11-03 13:09:52 UTC
SUMMARY
Tabs take a long time to close or to be created.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. I still cannot reproduce it consistently. There are days when this does not happen, but usage pattern is pretty similar from day to day.
2. It starts after closing an SSH connection to some server (not always the same one) and I try to close the tab I opened for that connection.

OBSERVED RESULT
After entering 'exit' at the shell prompt, the bash replies with 'exit' on the next line and the tab hangs in there instead of closing. This happens also if the 'Close tab' button is used instead.
After the first event happens, opening new tabs takes a long time and when they do, the following appears:
Warning: Could not start program '/bin/bash' with arguments '/bin/bash'.
Warning: Process operation timed out
After a few minutes, the expected shell prompt appears. The tab can then be used as usual.

EXPECTED RESULT
Closing a tab by exiting the shell or using the button:
- should be fast
- terminate all the related processes
- inform the user on processes that cannot be terminated.

SOFTWARE VERSIONS
(available in About System)

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Comment 1 Dario Savella 2018-11-03 13:12:38 UTC
It could be a duplicate of https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=251351, but that description does not mention of difficulties opening new tabs.
Comment 2 Justin Zobel 2020-11-03 04:15:26 UTC
Thanks for the report Dario and apologies for the delayed response.

I haven't been able to reproduce this issue on konsole from git master.

Can you please test and confirm if this is still an issue, thanks.

My apologies for not coming back with more info.
Since the ticket was opened I update my OS and I am now using konsole 18.12.3 and, although I am not using it as much as before, I never encountered this problem again.
