Alt+Tab is so common nowadays that it would be nice if the "Document switcher" plugin would be enabled by default.

Along with "Project Plugin", "Search & Replace" and "Terminal tool view"

Toggling plug-ins is really easy to do if you want to submit a patch, BTW. See https://cgit.kde.org/kate.git/commit/?id=92305998831f87cc911a95e75bdec1a3b5ce9a06

I am in favor of enabling this by default. Gregor, can you provide a patch similar to the one linked in Comment #1?

Interestingly, this line (which enables the Document Switcher)

defaultPlugins.insert(QLatin1String("tabswitcherplugin"));

has already been added at least in the year 2015. I wonder why I had the impression that I have to enable this plugin over and over again.

This enables four other plugins by default: https://phabricator.kde.org/D16641
