SUMMARY
When a new document is opened via File > New or via the respective toolbar icon, the zoom slider disappears.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Open Calligra Sheets
2. Open a new blank document. Observe that there is one zoom slider at the bottom of the window
3. Open another new document via File > New or via the toolbar icon
4. The zoom slider is gone. It doesn't reappear when you open another new document or an existing one from disk.

OBSERVED RESULT
The zoom slider disappears

EXPECTED RESULT
The zoom slider should always be there

Note: there is another related bug I've just filed (bug#399083) - which bug you get depends on how you open the new document, so please follow the steps to reproduce carefully.

The bug is still there in Calligra 3.0.1. Actually the whole status bar disappears when the repro steps I provided are followed. See the attached screenshots.
