This is a cosmetic issue but it's a very annoying one which also gives the impression that the import is not working correctly and that it isn't "stable".

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. start import
2. import some images (in my case I had "only new images" selected)
3. watch top bar

OBSERVED RESULT
for each imported image, its thumbnail is very briefly shown in the top thumbnail bar, then this bar scrolls back to the first picture.
Below, the image is shown in a larger preview, but not every image is shown here. Some are skipped.

EXPECTED RESULT
The top thumbnail list should not keep scrolling back. It is a very annoying flickiering effect.
The larger preview of the currently imported image should not 
a) skip images - either display them, or display the (most probably pre-rendered?) existing thumbnail, in a larger version, or skip altogether,
b) autoplay movies, because this also creates flickering and also sound output for a second or so, which might be very unexpected for users. Just display the movie's thumbnail.

I absolutely can not reproduce this problem. We talk about thumbnailbar from import window? Or the thumbnailbar of the digiKam main view during the download? I think we need a screencast here.

After 3 weeks of work, i finally completed the compilation of AppImage using Qt
5.11.3 + QWebkit 5.212.

New 6.1.0 pre-release AppImage bundle can be found here (64 bits only for the
moment) :

digiKam 7.0.0 stable release is now published and now available as FlatPak:

To Jens, comment #2 : under Linux, you can use RecordMyDesktop or SimpleScreenRecoder (this last one is very powerfull)

What's about this file using current 8.2.0 AppImage Linux bundle ? It's
reproducible ?

Hi all,

The digiKam 8.4.0 Appimage bundle pre-release is now based on last modern frameworks Qt 6.7.0 and KDE 6.2.0.

File can be downloaded at usual place : https://files.kde.org/digikam/
Take a  care : the bundle is named with the suffix "-Qt6" not "-Qt5". This bundle is compiled under Ubuntu 22.04 and require a Linux with GlibC version >= 2.35 to run.

Can you reproduce the dysfonction with this version?
