SUMMARY


STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. navigate to a folder with images
2. menu: View > Show previews


EXPECTED RESULT
preview images, show thumbnails

ACTUAL RESULT
no thumbnails

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
The 'show previews' worked just fine in 16.04
I just upgraded to 18.04 and there's no preview of images.
although, when pressing F3, images are properly displayed in KrViewer

The same thing happens on my laptop, where the same upgrade was performed a few days ago. No (thumbnail) previews of photos or any other docs.

You need to have the package "kio-extras" installed.

This solved the problem, indeed. 
I was searching everywhere, couldn't find a solution.
I hope this would help other people.
