I was about to file a feature request about this, then noticed someone already did that a year ago.

In the latest Nate's blog post (https://pointieststick.com/2021/10/22/this-week-in-kde-fingerprint-reader-and-nvidia-gbm-support) he's announcing Plasma 5.24 will finally be compatible with fingerprint devices. As a mainly desktop computers user, it's hard to have such a device, while I always carry with me my phone. It'd be very handy to use my device's fingerprint sensor for fingerprint authentication.

It has been suggested in Bug 410193 and Bug 453358 to use KDE Connect for this purpose.
