Description gryphonist 2018-09-21 09:11:42 UTC
Where to begin ...
All I wanted to do was have my ethernet connection auto connect on system start. You know, like it did before I had to reinstall, like it does on the Live system. But it doesn't (didn't, god willing). The ethernet doesn't even have a password, for christ sake. Yet it gets dumped into kwallet. And the help system - Really?. First rule of kde: don't ask kde. It's like you're expecting people to not use it.

And so the usual hamster wheel of checking page after page of utterly boring crap, until I find that one person who actually managed to figure out wtf you were thinking.

I really hate whinging like this - it is what it is. But here's what you need to do: just link to the Arch wiki. The people who know what's happening have made an effort to explain it to the Great Unwashed.

For now, it's time to grab an axe, crank up the Metal and leave some good looking corpses.

BTW, not being able to find the info you need is a bug. Don't think it isn't.

So this is a plasma-nm bug, I guess. I'm also not sure how the problem was fixed (just selecting "Automatically connect to this network when it is available"?)

First rule of bug reporting: don't insult the people who you are expecting to fix a problem. :) Please see https://community.kde.org/Get_Involved/Bug_Reporting#Bug_tracker_etiquette

I still have no idea what the actual problem is, whether or not it's in a KDE product, and whether or not you have already solved it yourself with the aid of a page on the Arch wiki. Can you please write Steps To Reproduce? See https://community.kde.org/Get_Involved/Bug_Reporting#Steps_to_Reproduce
