Screen recording of the issue

Every time latte-dock is activated there is a strange white bar around it. I have tried to remove ~/.config/latte* to restore original settings but it doesn't help.

The screen resolution is 3200x1800, 192dpi. The distro is Arch Linux, package version 0.8.1-1.

I've attached a screen recording of the issue.

Both layouts have this problem so I uploaded both of them.

My Plasma theme is Breeze.

Please try to run Latte from command line through:

latte-dock -d --graphics

how does the video looks like then?

2. If you disable Blur from Tweaks is the issue fixed?
Comment 8 hexchain 2018-09-16 18:51:45 UTC
1. I don't use latte-dock until it was recommended by a friend recently, so I have no idea if this issue is a regression.
2. New video attached. The white bar is still there.
3. The issue is fixed if I disable blur in Tweaks.

Have you enabled PLASMA_USE_QT_SCALING for you hidpi screen?

Yes.

Plasma devs propose to not be used anymore because it breaks too many things. One of which is the window geometries. The white box is your video is a miscalculated area for Blur effect. The reason of the miscalculations is PLASMA_USE_QT_SCALING, more issues are created also because of that variable

Thanks for pointing that out, I'm not aware of that. Now I disabled PLASMA_USE_QT_SCALING, and the white bar was gone.

As for the PLASMA_USE_QT_SCALING itself, I enabled it because Plasma panel and context menu icon would be very small otherwise. It looks like Plasma devs are fixing bugs so that Plasma can eventually use Qt scaling. If this is not the case, could you please point me to some links that describe the current situation?

Sorry I can't help with that. I learned about it through other bug reports and plasma devs stepped in to clear the situation.

Best way to scale up your interface is through fonts dpi in my opinion from plasma systemsettings, Fonts page
Comment 15 hexchain 2018-09-16 20:24:55 UTC
I already changed the font DPI to match the screen DPI. It didn't help much about visual elements (i.e. icons, indicators, etc.) on Plasma, though.

Thanks anyway. I guess this bug can be closed then?
