Steps:
1. Start Wayland session.
2. Open XWayland window - tested with Firefox.
3. Invoke resizing with Meta+R shortcut.
4. Decrease size of window with mouse movement.
5. Press Esc key.

Actual:
Pointer motion confined to the current window... message appears

Expected:
No Pointer motion confined to the current window... message - because pointer is not confined to the current window after pressing Esc

hum, in plasma 5.14 beta, Arch Linux, nothing happens when I press ESC.
I need to press enter to stop resizing mode.

Sorry, this behavior occurs under X11.
Under Wayland ESC key works and I can not reproduce the bug.
I think that pointer confinement feature was removed from plasma 5.14 beta.

This issue report is quite old. Can you please confirm, that it still persists with KDE 5.23?
