If you're using Ubuntu's provided package, you're likely running Kaffeine version 2.0.14, as it seems it doesn't have Kaffeine 2.0.15 packaged:
    https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/bionic/+package/kaffeine

There was a bug on 2.0.14 affecting subtitles selection that was fixed on 2.0.15. You should likely ask a BZ for Ubuntu asking them to upgrade Kaffeine.

I'm closing it, because it is duplicated. Please re-open the BZ if it still occurs after upgrading to 2.0.15. On such case, I'll require more data in order to be able to reproduce it here with my RF generator.

*** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of bug 365067 ***

This bug is related to those:

https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=385356
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=396515

I'm pretty sure it was reported before, but I can't find the BZ anymore. Perhaps it was reported via e-mail.

Anyway, The language selection logic changed on Kaffeine 2.0.14, with caused it to do some wrong things. I fixed on Kaffeine 2.0.15. It should be affecting both EPG and subtitles.

Could you please test it? You'll need to build Kaffeine from its sources, as Ubuntu currently doesn't provide a 2.0.15 package.

I installed once again Kaffeine 2.0.15 and I have subtitles now even from teletext.

Good! I'll close this BZ.
