If you have closed accounts filtered from the accounts view then each time you want to change a report covering a historical period, you have to edit the KMyMoney settings General -> Filter to show closed accounts, edit the report, then change the filter back again as the hidden accounts are automatically deselected from the account list in the report.

Show closed accounts in report configuration

In case the configuration of a report references at least one closed
account, also closed accounts will be shown in the configuration widgets
