When a screenshot is taken, the mouse pointer is captured by default.*
If a user decides to to exclude the mouse pointer, the option "Include mouse pointer" has to be unchecked and another screenshot has to be taken.


Therefore, I suggest two always take two screenshots: One with the mouse and one without. 
Concretely, if the user unchecks "Include mouse pointer", the preview screenshot should be updated and the image without the pointer should be saved.

* This should also work if the mouse pointer is excluded by default.

Thanks for your message.

If we implemented your suggestion, changing options after the fact should also work for all of the other options. However, I don't think that's feasible from a performance and memory perspective, because the number of possible combinations would just be too high.

The workflow is supposed to be like this:
- Set options.
- Take screenshot.
- Save.

Other apps use a more wizard-like workflow, but I think that's tedious and the current way serves most Spectacle users well enough.

I suppose your use case was to exclude the mouse pointer after you took the screenshot, because you had no use for it? If so, we probably rather should disable the mouse pointer by default, see Bug 397121.

You are right, I actually didn't consider all possible combinations and I also somehow hadn't seen the "Take a new screenshot button".

With this in mind I think this FR can be closed.
