I have reinstalled kontact (RPM, Opensuse 42.3) - no difference.
I have reinstalled the various files and directories in ~/.local and ~/.config from the backup 1 day before the crashing kontact, but there is no difference. Kontact aborts:
>kontact
KSycoca unavailable. Kontact will be unable to find plugins.
KCrash: Application 'kontact' crashing...
KCrash: Attempting to start /usr/lib64/libexec/drkonqi from kdeinit

[1] Aborted (core dumped) kontact
[2]+ Stopped kontact
- korganizer starts and works! (which is most important for me) - kmail starts (Not using it) The problem has been solved. It appears that the environment variable LANG is now set as LANG=aa_DJ.utf8 and I still do not know where this setting is coming from. However simply setting this LANG to the null string is sufficient to let kontact working again as before. I am sure that this variable has not been set before to this aa_DJ.utf8 string, because as a side effect all month abbreviation in an ls command have (for me) unknown 3-character strings, such as -rw-r--r-- 1 charles users 5640 qad 14 22:30 ,sda drwxr-xr-- 2 charles users 4096 kax 7 2016 scripts and this has not been like this until 2 days ago. Thanks for the update; changing status. |
