/Volumes and other folders should be here

Because on current Mac OS (10.13.5) there appears to be no way to select a removable disk. Removable disks are not displayed at the top level of the file-browser dialog, nor is /Volumes among the folders displayed when / is selected for viewing. This makes digikam essentially useless for users affected by this bug.

Maybe you have to activate the file dialog from the system only in the digiKam settings under Miscellaneous. Please test it.

Yes, checking the "use native file dialog" under misc changes things so that there's a level corresponding to the top of the Mac file hierarchy, from which I can select the external drive. Oddly, the folder display under "macintosh HD" is still wonky. But at least selecting is possible.

thanks

Apparently works now. Importing from removable disks is wonky, but the collections bit works. (If I try to import from a removable disk, sometimes I get a working thumbnail window, sometimes I get "could not connect to camera, even though I'm ostensibly connecting to a USB storage device. That part sometimes works when a disk is displayed by hardware name "USB Disk XXX (YYYGB)" but only reliably works when display is by volume name.)

The macOS import from removable media is a know problem already reported in other files in bugzilla.

I close this file now.
