Description m.orly97 2018-06-15 17:47:14 UTC
In KDE Neon Dev Unstable 5.13.80, shortcuts to some plasmoids (eg. Media Control) attached to latte dock works until reboot and then are reset. Other plasmoids (eg. notification centre, event calendar) are not affected.
Comment 1 Michail Vourlakos 2018-06-24 20:30:03 UTC
Latte isnt changing any plasmoids shortcuts, so I suppose this is plasmoids related.

Have you tried to reproduce with plasma panels?

needs info ....
Comment 3 m.orly97 2018-06-24 21:21:40 UTC
I tried using default plasma panels, and Media Control Plasmoid shorcut is preserved after reboot.
Comment 4 Michail Vourlakos 2018-06-24 22:17:51 UTC
I tried with Latte the Media Player plasmoid and I dont have any issue...

steps I tried...

1. set a shortcut for Media Player in Latte and trigger it
2. close Latte
3. open Latte and try to trigger the shortcut (it works)

---

1. Are you using plasma panels and Latte panels at the same time?
2. Are you using a systray? Is the media player enabled in the systray?

1) When I first noticed the problem I was using only latte-dock, now during tests I was using both Plasma Panels and Latte;
2) Yes, I'm using the systray in Unity Layout.

I tried to set a shortcut to Media Control Plasmoid in Latte, and:
- after closing and reopening Latte, the shortcut was preserved;
- after the first reboot, it was preserved;
- after the second reboot, it was reset.

At this point I guess it's a problem with my specific installation, I should try with a fresh install in a VM.

is this still valid or is it upstream to plasma ?
Comment 7 m.orly97 2018-07-13 16:10:39 UTC
I've just tested the issue in a KDE Neon 5.13.80 fresh install on a virtual machine, and it's still there:
- I set the shortcut for Media Control in Latte Dock;
- I rebooted;
- It didn't work anymore, and the shorcut in Media Control settings was empty again.
Comment 8 Michail Vourlakos 2018-07-13 16:16:36 UTC
I forward it to plasma because it doesnt look Latte related
Comment 9 Alexander Mentyu 2018-10-05 12:32:42 UTC
Cannot reproduce when both in panel and in Latte - shortcut is working after reboots

Operating System: KDE neon Developer Edition
KDE Plasma Version: 5.14.80
Qt Version: 5.11.1
KDE Frameworks Version: 5.51.0
Comment 10 m.orly97 2018-10-21 13:03:55 UTC
The bug is still present even after a fresh install only on X11; in Wayland the shortcut is preserved after reboot.

Operating System: KDE neon Developer Edition Unstable
KDE Plasma Version: 5.14.80
Qt Version: 5.11.2
KDE Frameworks Version: 5.52.0

This bug is has now also been affecting me since the past few days.
The shortcut persists restarting latte-dock, but logging out an logging in again results in the shortcut being lost.

I have confirmed the notification plasmoid is not affected.

Operating System: openSUSE Tumbleweed 20201030
KDE Plasma Version: 5.20.2
KDE Frameworks Version: 5.75.0
Qt Version: 5.15.1
Kernel Version: 5.9.1-1-default

Same root cause as Bug 409190.
