Data type of every column is automatically assigned as "Numeric". The algorithm implemented for importing of ascii/csv data files leads to inappropriate data representation in resulting spreadsheet.

Which version of LabPlot are you using? Can you please attach a small example file where the auto-detection of the data types fails?
