I might be missing something, but I cannot reproduce the issue. The change to the mask is visible almost immediately. What I did is this: * Create an image of the same dimensions as yours, with two layers * Fill the top layer with a gradient * Made a selection * Created a transparency mask from the selection: now only part of the top layer is visible * Selected the mask * Removed the global selection * Selected a different background color * Pressed backspace: now the whole top layer is visible T All the process is done by a laptop without a graphic card (Dell Inspiron 15 5000 Series), using the OpenGL render engine in Windows.
