When entering Full Screen mode from the "View" toolbar menu when the Krita app in not maximised, it will maximise the app and hide make it cover the whole screen and when you uncheck it will revert to normal view and un-maximised. 

However, if you maximised the app and enter fullscreen mode, then un-check the  the fullscreen mode in the View toolbar menu if will NOT get out of fullscreen mode. 

You have to toggle fullscreen mode again and untoggle it to escape from fullscreen mode; but when it does the app window will not be maximised.

Confirmed: this is a windows-specific issue. I suspect it might even be a bug in the development framework :-(

I think this has been fixed. Checking on Krita 4.4.2 on Windows I do not get stuck in fullscreen and un-toggling "Full Screen Mode" takes me out of full screen.
