Whenever I quit kopete it crashes, without savong settings or changes that I've made to the kontact list (such as accepting a new contact into my list etc)

The crash can be reproduced every time.

Dear user, unfortunately Kopete is no longer maintained.

Please migrate to another solution, e.g. for Jabber a possibility is Kaidan, for Matrix a candidate is NeoChat.
