I installed Kubuntu 18.04 on an other partition and that too can't go into suspension. My other kde system is Neon user edition. You already reported this as https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=393361. No need to report the same issue twice. You are right. I reported it twice by accident. The first time after I confirmed the text went below the visible area of the screen and I thought it was lost. My mistake.. I went on searching and I got more and more convinced that this bug is caused by the whole i8kutils/smm thing that this dell needs. I will keep on looking but I am almost sure this is not a kde bug.
