Hello,

I have 2 monitor and the applications always opens on the wrong monitor, the secondary one. I saw that I can force each windows to open on a specific monitor but it's not viable. I just want every applications to open on the primary monitor. I'm on Debian Strech at work so I use Plasma 5.8.6 but I think it's the same with the latest release (correct me if I'm wrong).

Thanks.

Most applications (incorrectly) specify the position where they want to be placed. They indicate that the user specified this position. KWin is obliged to use this position. Most likely this is the cause for your problem. There's nothing we can do about it, so I set to invalid.

Please note that KWin does not use the primary screen setting. Windows (which don't specify the position) are placed on the active screen; either the screen with the active window or the screen under mouse depending on settings.

Ok I understand. Is it possible to add a settings to force every windows to open on a specific monitor ? It is so annoying to move the windows every single time
:(

You can use window specific rules to achieve this. Please note that this is a technical issue board and not a user support forum.

I know, but that issue have to be worked around (so annoying) and, if you agree, we can find a way to fix it because :

If I understand correctly one have to make a rule for every windows ? It's not viable. Let alone the poor discoverability. Maybe should I open a new bug to add a setting for selecting where the windows must be opened ?
