Description Alex 2018-03-28 16:23:53 UTC
Hallo!
I have read all the other bug reports on this topic but in my case it turned out more severe:
I had to give the password for my wallet but _no_ migration wizard appeared. Then I copied the files into .local/share/kwalletd/ and the password is not accepted. So I am shut out. I then tried to copy the files to another PC with oldstable still running. But also here the password was not accepted. So the migration hat tempered with the files and I am shut out. The only file I could access was a wallet of another user the migration had never touched. This is very annoying! Is there any hope the get into these files?
Thanks Alex

Stop showing the migration wizard by default

If the migration wizard is needed, then add this to kwalletrc
[Migration]
showMigrationWizard=true

You have to add this to the new ~/.config/kwalletrc

I have added that but it now doesn't come up any more. There are two instances of kwalletd active the old kwalletd and the new kwalletd5
Is this a problem?
Can one not manually start kwallet migration in the command line?

Thanks!

Hallo!

Could this be a reason why my passwords are not accepted? I understand that PAM tries to use the password of the user as password for Kwallet. It is not the same in my case

30.03.18 13:24	fabred	sddm-helper	pam_kwallet5(sddm:setcred): pam_kwallet5: pam_sm_setcred

I still cant migrate my passwords. Please any idea?

Hallo!
My problem is simply that the .salt files are changed and that my password is not accepted. How can this be? It should be a read only operation. Why does it write in ~/.kde/share/apps/kwallet/?
Thanks for any advice how to open the wallet with password!

Hi,
thanks for asking but I have switched to a different password manager after the disaster. I am using KeepassXC now which has a standard one file password store. Since I have no upgrade happening its not possible to reproduce.
Sorry
