Hm, I can't reproduce this on Kubuntu 18.04b1 or Neon Dev. I'm trying to recreate by: - Activating "Split" in the Dolphin window - Selecting "root" or some other non-user directory in one window, and my $HOME dir in the other - Drag-n-drop a folder or file - For a file, I get a dialog saying the file could not be created - For a folder, I get a red bar across the top of the destination that says the folder could not be created. Please explain your workflow in a bit more detail and I'll try some more. If you can include a couple screenshots (or even a screencap video), it'll make it easier to try reproducing - and fixing! Thanks. *** Bug 394112 has been marked as a duplicate of this bug. *** *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of bug 390701 *** Actually this report has the best stacktrace, let's keep it open and close the other one. *** Bug 390701 has been marked as a duplicate of this bug. *** *** Bug 394149 has been marked as a duplicate of this bug. *** Created attachment 113660 [details] New crash information added by DrKonqi dolphin (18.04.2) using Qt 5.11.0 - What I was doing when the application crashed: > copying files from USB drive to local drive > copying photos from phone (mtp) -- Backtrace (Reduced): #6 std::__atomic_base<QMutexData*>::compare_exchange_strong (__m2=std::memory_order_acquire, __m1=std::memory_order_acquire, __p2=<optimized out>, __p1=@0x7ffeeaa6a338: 0x0, this=0xc0) at /usr/include/c++/5/bits/atomic_base.h:752 #7 std::atomic<QMutexData*>::compare_exchange_strong (__m2=std::memory_order_acquire, __m1=std::memory_order_acquire, __p2=<optimized out>, __p1=@0x7ffeeaa6a338: 0x0, this=0xc0) at /usr/include/c++/5/atomic:462 #8 QAtomicOps<QMutexData*>::testAndSetAcquire<QMutexData*> (currentValue=<synthetic pointer>, newValue=<optimized out>, expectedValue=0x0, _q_value=...) at ../../include/QtCore/../../src/corelib/thread/qatomic_cxx11.h:290 #9 QBasicAtomicPointer<QMutexData>::testAndSetAcquire (currentValue=<synthetic pointer>, newValue=<optimized out>, expectedValue=0x0, this=0xc0) at ../../include/QtCore/../../src/corelib/thread/qbasicatomic.h:251 #10 QBasicMutex::fastTryLock (current=<synthetic pointer>, this=0xc0) at thread/qmutex.h:107 *** Bug 399345 has been marked as a duplicate of this bug. *** Created attachment 115696 [details]
New crash information added by DrKonqi
dolphin (18.08.0) using Qt 5.11.1
- What I was doing when the application crashed:
I tried to copy a directory from a ext4-formatted partition to another ext4-formatted partition (on different devices).
Both are connected via SATA and working without any problems.
Dolphin showed an error that the permissions for a certain file could not be moved, so I pressed on retry, then Dolphin complained the same file is now missing. Now I select to press skip, and Dolphin crashed immediately.
At the end, some files where moved, others not.

This looks like a duplicate of 368287 and that should be fixed with Frameworks 5.56.0. Can you please retest with that version? *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of bug 368287 *** Created attachment 127255 [details]

dolphin (18.08.0) using Qt 5.11.3
- What I was doing when the application crashed:
I was trying to move one file to another location, it moves it but them comes up with a denied message.
It makes the copy but does not erases the source and/or doesn't copy it completly and leaves the soure intact.
From a usb storage to an internal HD; it happens randomly.
