notification when dolphin deletes a file

I think this notification weird (screenshot).
"Moving: Finished"?
Maybe "Moving to trash: finished" will make it clearer.

Maybe "trash:/ filename" can be replaced just with the file name.

"open" button? Why would anyone want to open a file just moved to trash?
I can not think of any reason.

yeah, what would make more sense is an "undo" button, since that's pretty much the only actionable thing you would want to do with that file right after trashing it.

Really, do we even need a notification here at all? I don't get it consistently. I wonder if it's something where KIO always shows a notification for file transfers that take a certain length of time or above a certain size.
Comment 3 Patrick Silva 2018-11-15 14:26:42 UTC
I do not see the purpose of this notification.
I think it can be removed.

Furthermore all notifications about file operations (copying, moving, renaming)
are inconsistent. Sometimes they appear, sometimes they do not appear.

This weird notification shows up even when I delete hundreads (almost 1000) of small files (jpg) from trash.

new notification system on Plasma 5.16.4

With the new notifications system Plasma shows a different notification (see the attached screenshot):
"Moving (Finished)
X files to trash"

I think that "Moving" is not an proper term in this situation.
Perhaps replacing "Moving (Finished)" with "Sending to trash (Finished)"
could be an improvement.

The new notification could be:
"Sending to trash (Finished)
X files"

Seems that is fixed. I do not see any notifications even when deleting ~20 Gb folder.

Operating System: Arch Linux
KDE Plasma Version: 5.27.6
KDE Frameworks Version: 5.108.0
Qt Version: 5.15.10
Dolphin: 23.04.3

This is still relevant; a notification still appears in some circumstances, and its wording still isn't ideal. BTW the heuristic for whether or nor a notification is shown for file operations is whether they take longer than ha;f a second to complete. So, whether the notification shows up or not will depend heavily on the files being trashed, moved, copied, deleted etc, and the performance of the storage volume they live on.
