default mail client is set to kmail, but opening mailto links nothing happens.
in konsole kmail --composer return:

Work fine here.
Perhaps it's a bug fixed after 5.6.3

Could you retest it with new version ?

more info:

- composer opens only if a kmail session is present
- or if I delete /tmp/akonadi-user.xxxxxx

with 5.11.0 it works fine.
5.7.3 is very old.

This is 6 years old and there hasn't been a similar report meanwhile, let's consider this as solved. Feel free to reopen if this issue reappear in a recent version of KMail
