Pressed space to play the timeline.
It crashed a few seconds later when the cursor reached where I had a Fade to Black effect on Video 3.

The crash can be reproduced every time.

Please try with the actual Kdenlive AppImage version 18.08.3
Run the Appimage from the terminal (press CTRL + ALT + T). Move to the AppImage folder and run the .AppImage: ./Kdenlive*.AppImage

After trying again with a similar environment used for reporting this issue, I am not able to reproduce this again.
Fade out (with Fade to Black checked) works as expected. No crashes.
