(*** This bug was imported into bugs.kde.org ***)

Package: kwin
Version: KDE 2.2.1
Severity: normal
Installed from: RedHat RPMs
Compiler: Not Specified
OS: Linux
OS/Compiler notes: Not Specified

When I load KDE from my graphical login program if I do not move the mouse a little durring the spalsh screen the mouse freezes in the middle of the screen and I cannot move it anymore. Without the mouse I cannot really use KDE and I have to switch to a text login and halt the system. This happens on every boot if I don't move the mouse.

That sounds very much like a problem with either your mouse driver or your X
server. KDE can't control the mouse movement in any way.

Did you try to start some other desktop environment and not KDE? Does that
still happen?
