Example of the current layer on/off icons in Inkscape

The icons vor layer visible on/off are visually very similar making it hard to distinguish between them at a glance, especially when they are displayed at a small size.

For an example see the screenshot of the layer list in Inkscape.

I would propose to make the layers in the icon visually thinner for the off state. This would support the impression of the layers being off or disabled. It would also be consistent with the treatment of the document encrypted/decrypt icon where the lock becomes lighter (hollow) in the decrypted/unlocked state.

Suggested new layer-visible-off Icon

Idea for a new layer-visible-off icon with thinner layers. (Size 16)

I was just wondering how to move this forward?

Do people agree the current pair of layer visible on/off icons is not visually distinct enough, especially when displayed at small sizes?

Any feedback on the provided suggestion as a replacement for the layer-visible-off icon?
