screenshot of the problem

Many months ago I tried changing something about my login details in KDE System Settings > Account Details > User Manager. I don't remember exactly what happened, anyway it didn't let me save the changes and my name disappeared from the list. I waited to see if it would resolve itself with updates, but several versions into the future it still hasn't.

I see only a user "install" which must have been generated during installation close to 2 years ago. If I click the "+" button to add a user and enter my username, the icon next to the username field (which, by the way, has no label!) shows (\) "This username is already used". I cannot add myself to the list of users, and so I don't show up on the login screen.

Help?

I can login as myself, it's just that I have to enter both my name and password manually.

That sounds bad, but unfortunately if you can't remember what you did to trigger this, than there isn't much we can do to fix it. Are you able to provide a more detailed set of instructions for now we can make this happen?

I have reinstalled since then, and can no longer reproduce.

Thanks. And sorry for the long time before you got an answer on this. We'll try to be more responsive in the future!
