Hello,

this may be rejected as duplicate of Bug 369659, but maybe you want to think about it.

In "Settings->kdenlive->Environment" I made the mistake to define only the directory "/usr/bin" in which ffmpeg is installed, instead of the complete path "/usr/bin/ffmpeg". Thus proxy clip creation failed. The only message given, even on command line, was something like "Proxy-Clip creation failed".

I think it would be helpful (not to say user friendly) to post an error message saying that ffmpeg couldn't be found. In case ffmpeg reports an error due to wrong settings this is reported to the user, too.
