Created attachment 109549 [details]
kritarc file

To reproduce, create 2 new canvases. Switch to the second one created (rightmost tab). Hold CTRL for a second or two until it crashes. 100% reproducible on my machine. I have keyboard shortcuts set to 'photoshop compatible", but I believe the CTRL function is the same as with the default keys.

It doesn't produce a crash dump, but I've attached my kritarc file.

Hi Brian,

I'm afraid I cannot reproduce the crash. Could you check whether it still happens after renaming your kritarc file to kritarc.bak, so you are running with the default configuration? Does it matter which tool is active?

Hi Boudewijn,

It does continue to happen with a default configuration. It only occurs on tools that switch to the color picker when CTRL is held down, so brush tool, rectangle tool, ellipse tool, etc. The cursor switches to the color picker icon right as it crashes. I can also get it to crash with the "Similar Color Selection Tool" though less consistently.

It crashes every time on my laptop, which is running Windows 8 and has 6MB of RAM. However it does not crash my desktop also running Windows 8.

I'm struggling to figure out why it crashes on my laptop but not desktop. I'm open to any other things to check out.

Okay -- could you download the latest nightly build? https://binary-factory.kde.org/job/Krita_Nightly_Build/

Get both the krita and the debug zips and follow https://docs.krita.org/Dr._Mingw_debugger to get a backtrace if you can still reproduce the issue with that build.

I downloaded the latest nightly build from your link (4.0 beta) and was NOT able to reproduce the crash. This is good news, I don't believe the problem is present in the latest build!
