I'm not sure if 261849 is different or not. It is specifically requesting drill down to a similar or more detailed report, where this is requesting drilling down to the numbers which contributed to the number you click on. Eventually that does go to a specific transaction in the ledger, but it is not clear how you get there. If you click on a number which represents the total monthly income, do you first go to some list of transactions, where each can take you to that one in the ledger, or do you go directly to the ledger, with all contributing transactions selected? I'm just a bit concerned that if the report shows a total of $750, it gets that by adding the transactions that contribute to that item - I'm not sure how they could be different, but it is still useful to be able to easily identify them in the ledger. I have just converted from Quicken to KMM; this is a Quicken feature, and a very handy one. Upon entering a report, if you want to see the detailed transactions that make up any number shown on the report you click the number and all transactions become available. Via hyperlink, you can go back into the ledger at which time you can make changes to the ledger. This is particularly useful at year-end. For example, adjustments to 'category' are not common. I could think of having a specific hyperlink under each number of e.g. an exp/inc report. In case you click on the link you will get a new report that shows all the transactions that led to that number (the filtering configuration for that report needs to be provided in the link somehow). A transaction report itself already has a hyperlink on the date that you can click to open the ledger at that transaction. This is basically what the last paragraph of #261849 mentions (the idea did not change in recent years). In fact, #261849 has some ideas for additional hyperlinks. Created attachment 109452 [details]

From this drill down a variety of data points can be edited.
I would greatly appreciate if this wish would be implemented some day. |
