(*** This bug was imported into bugs.kde.org ***)

Package: kghostview
Version: 013pre2 (using KDE 2.9.2 )
Severity: normal
Installed from: SuSE RPMs
Compiler: gcc 2.95.3
OS: Linux
OS/Compiler notes: Not Specified

PDF files downloaded from US journals usually come in letter size printers in Germany have A4 in the tray. No big problem since Letter documents most of the time fit onto A4 paper. Of course I can view such documents on the screen. To print them I set the paper size in kghostview to A4. Still looks good on screen. When printing (kprinter -> cups -> HP LaserJet everything set to A4) the LaserJet says: Wrong paper size "Load Letter". This blocks the printer untils someone feeds it manually with paper as requested.

It would be nice if kprinter could respect the paper size set via "View->Paper size" for printing. Thanks for your attention and for a alreade very useful programm !

Thomas

I can confirm that this is a problem with KGhostView. The program always tries to print documents using their original paper size, which might not be loaded in the user's printer, thus triggering a "Load xxx" message on the printer. It would be really nice to have a "Shrink/expand to fit page" option like the Adobe Acrobat Reader has.

Is this bug still present in a recent version of KDE, such as 3.5.8 or KDE 4 RC2?
Comment 7 George Goldberg 2008-01-22 03:38:52 UTC
Closing due to no response by original reporter. Please reopen if this bug is still present in a current version of KDE. (at time of writing: 3.5.8 or 4.0.0)
Comment 8 Tristan Miller 2008-01-24 18:53:09 UTC
Please reopen. Kghostview still lacks an interface for allowing the user to choose whether the document should be printed on its inherent paper size, or whether it should be scaled to a paper size specified by the user.

Reopening as per request.
Comment 10 Adrián Chaves (Gallaecio) 2012-10-14 20:33:07 UTC
Moving to Okular, since KGhostView is not maintained anymore.

Can anyone affected by this bug back in KGhostView confirm whether this bug applies to Okular or not?
