Note: I didn't consider AppImage here because you don't need software like Discover to find, download, and install AppImages, and so AppImages are not listed in Discover. But if at some point it would make sense to add AppImage support (maybe pulling from https://appimage.github.io/apps/?) we could consider adding a priority for AppImages, too. Please review the current approach. The idea is that every distro will have a preferred backend. Hypothetically, Ubuntu -> snap, Red Hat -> Flatpak, Debian -> PackageKit, etc. We provide a default setting that both the distro and the user can override. Upon search we pack them and prefer the user selected if available, otherwise we will show whatever is available. From the application view, the user may change the source too. |
