Fn+Space on Thinkpads.

Though - 'Display Brightness' slider is updating when changing screen brightness with keyboard combination (Fn+F5/F6) - also in real time when 'Battery and Brightness' panel widget is displayed.

Works for me with my ThinkPad. Looks like this got fixed since it was reported. Probably with a kernel fix, not anything in Powerdevil or Plasma.
