Kate version: 16.04.3 I'm using the Kubuntu 16.04 KDE Plasma: 5.8.8 KDE Frameworks: 5.36.0 Qt: 5.6.1 OS type: 64-bit In fact, it completely ignores various other settings, like "Show line numbers", for example. Hi from the Bugsquad! I tested this on Kate 18.08 and am unable to reproduce your issue. Could you please retest on the latest version? If you still have an issue, let us know. Created attachment 109036 [details] The Configuration screen After trying to change Kate's "Default schema for Kate", under Fonts & Colors in the Settings -> Configure Kate menu, after changing it a few times, it starts to ignore the configuration. The only way to apply a new Default is to open the editor, go to the configuration, change it again and then click in "Apply". But after closing the Editor, the configuration resets again.
