At least the edict download on that page is encoded in UTF-8, but kiten only supports EUC-JP encoding. You could try to convert it with something like this e.g.: iconv -f utf-8 -t euc-jp -o newfilename filename This works, thank you! But in this time UTF-8 support will be better, therefore I will stay open as "Bug". (Change version to 19.12) (In reply to R.
