The checksum is downloaded from the archive repository https://download.kde.org/stable/frameworks/5.50/ and not from craft It's not available anymore so it's not possible to check but maybe the hash was not up to date or maybe your download was actually corrupted. Archived releases are moved to the Attic: https://download.kde.org/Attic/frameworks/5.40/kemoticons-5.40.0.tar.xz.mirrorlist In this case i'd suspect a bad download/mirror to be the issue here, rather than Craft being broken.
