Dear Developers, 

It would be great to allow defining default Format Type and Precision in the Configuration dialog.

Format type and the precision for which object? The properties of all the objects are edited in the corresponding dock widgets. There it is possible to save "default templates" - newly created objects of this type will then be initialized according to the saved settings. Does this help?
