So I started kwin without Xwayland on phone, and I can no longer start Qtvirtualkeyboard.

Starting kwin with Xwayland, virtual keyboard works again

Uhhmm PEBKAC... Somehow I managed to disable keyboard through SNI.

hm, it's not total PEBKAC, Virtual keyboard is somehow disabled at startup if you disable XWayland..

As you talk about the phone: do you mean the virtual keyboard provided by KWin or maliit?

Virtual keyboard provided by KWin.
Comment 5 Martin Flöser 2017-11-02 18:58:04 UTC
I just started a very minimal kwin session:
kwin_wayland --socket=wayland-1 kwrite qdbusviewer

Enabled the virtual keyboard through qdbusviewer, clicked into kwrite and had a working virtual keyboard. That was without X11 support as you can see.

Could it be that the status notifier item has problems if there is no X11?

Can not reproduce this anymore.
