GNU gdb (Gentoo 8.0.1 vanilla) 8.0.1
clang version 6.0.0 
gcc version 7.2.0 (Gentoo 7.2.0 p1.1) 

Variables display shows '>' on shared_ptr variables when expander is clicked, it just goes away and no data is displayed. This makes it painful to debug code with shared pointers. From the GDM tool view I can enter p *shared_ptr_var and see the data.

I can confirm and in some cases this makes the debug mode only half-useful.

This has long been fixed with changes to the parser
