Description Pierre THOMAS 2017-10-15 06:47:56 UTC
I used Mageia Linux 5.1 and everything was OK for importing photos with Gwenview, and for displaying DCIM camera file with Dolphin.
I just updated my PC with Mageia 6: I can't no longer import my photos from the same camera, I get the warning in French "L'URL ne peut être listée camera:/"

What can I do ?

I can import photos with Digikam, but I can't automatically name photo files with shooting date and time.

In Dolphin, the camera is not listed in the peripheral list.

I found how to modify parameters in Digikam ...

But Gwenview is simpler and OK for me.

The problem with Gwenview is the same with 3 different PCs running Mageia 6.

Thanks for reporting this. Could you plug in your camera, type "camera:/" into Dolphin's URL bar and post a screenshot of what you get? This way we could determine whether this is a problem with Gwenview or the camera kioslave.

(I don't think it is a problem with the gphoto library the camera kioslave is based on, as Digikam is working while directly being based on gphoto.)

I think I know what's the problem. This is not related to Gwenview, but the kioslave or rather Mageia's packaging of it: In order to allow camera:/ to work, you need to install the corresponding kioslave. When removing the kioslave on my side and setting the language to French, I got exactly your error.

Not sure how the package is called on Mageia, on openSUSE it is named "kio_kamera". Try installing this and open a bug report over at Mageia to set this package as a (soft or hard) dependency of Gwenview. This way this is not just solved for you, but every Mageia user.

Confirm the Bug and confirm the installation of Kamera (Kamera ioslave) that resolve the bug.

But I remember that an little icon appear on the bottom of the left panel of Dolphin: right now it don't appear. Is it a bug?

Tested on a current Plasma 5 and the older Plasma 4. For both versions:
- USB flash drive: accessible and icon shows up in Dolphin
- camera:/ based device: accessible, but no icon shows up in Dolphin

Therefore this is not a regression, but more of an enhancement request or a consistency bug. I filed bug 386060 for that.
