The current FF 57 shows literally no significant feedback anymore, when a download starts and I think a OSD notification is nice.

I am fine with a "disabled by default" status. ^^

I agree, but these are really issues with Firefox, not Plasma.

Can the plasma-browser-integration already send a notification at all, or is this not implemented entirely?

As, can the notification widget be notified by the browser integration, that a download has occurred?
