The problem still persists with the current appimage for kdevelop 5.4.3.
If the breeze dark color theme is active, the icons from breeze are used, making them almost invisible (see screenshot attached).

Created attachment 108024 [details] icons with appimage When a dark color theme is used, the breeze standard icons are used instead of the breeze dark ones. This makes it quite hard to use the kdevelop appimage with a dark theme. I should be possible to change also the icons, when the theme changes. I tested it with kdenive appimage.
