Description MK 2017-09-15 15:04:41 UTC
Input into the "beneficiary" field of the online-banking plugin does not allow German "umlauts". Therefore it is not possible to transfer money to a recipient with "ä,ü,ö,ß" in its name.

Those characters are not allowed and that is, why you cannot enter them. See https://www.hettwer-beratung.de/sepa-spezialwissen/sepa-technische-anforderungen/sepa-verwendungszweck/ for details.

Hi Thomas.

Would it be possible to automatically convert umlauts (e.g. ä -> ae) so that payees with umlauts in their names can be used for sepa transactions? I don't want to change the payees name as it's the correct spelling _with_ umlaut.

Otherwise users should see a pop-up saying that the name contains invalid chars for a sepa transaction.

All the best
Martin

No. This has been discussed in detail on the AqBanking mailing list long time ago and the general consent was not to provide automatic conversion. One of the reasons I remember was, that you could easily run into problems when adding characters to the memo field (Verwendungszweck). For those that don't deal with German banks: there is a 27 character limit on that field.

I see your problem with the payee name and think about it but want to concentrate on getting this feature to work at all in KF5 where it is broken.
