After installing P5 to test, I'm horrified, you can't disable many effects (without disabling compositing, which I did, but that has its own disadvantages.)  In systemsettings5 workspace: desktop behaviour: desktop effects, there are several effects you're forced to choose between several options, but for most/all, I want none.  You also can't disable some animations like minimizing, maximizing, and stuff in the panel (moving in the classic application menu, pop-ups.)  Please, don't force effects/animations on people: some feel animations are a disturbing waste of time.

Just click on the radio button. It is possible to deselect all.

Maybe for some, but apparently you didn't even read it all: I also can't disable window minimizing & maximizing animations, and animations in the panel (classic application menu, pop-ups.)  The ones that even have a radio button, it's not clear what the off or default option is.

For example, some sets are 'looking glass, magnifier, zoom' (I want none of them,) 'magic lamp,' 'minimise animation' (I want none of them,) 'desktop cube animation,' 'fade desktop,' 'slide' (I want none of them.)

So, this is far from resolved.

Ok, apparently some of the sets of options I mentioned have radio buttons (used for selecting one of several) where they should have tick-/check-boxes (used for selecting on or off.)  So maybe they can all be disabled, but it's just unclear, currently implying you're required to choose between one of several effects (with a radio button.)

Or, maybe radio button is fine, just some people don't know it can be zero or one of any of the options.
