There should be an option in the context menu of an entry in Placed to be opened in a new Window.
This option exists in the folders panel, when right clicking a folder.

Add "Open in New Window to Dolphin's places context menu

Summary:

Add an "Open in New Window" menu item to the context menu for Dolphin's places items.
