video showing the bug

Please see the attached video.

In the Windows build of Kdenlive, hitting the "play" button in the project monitor (or using spacebar) works at first, but after I've repositioned the playhead, subsequent attempts to play the project do nothing until I click on the timeline. Then the playback will start where I clicked after stuttering a bit. This makes auditioning the video as I edit it very cumbersome.

This seems to happen regardless of the video file i use, but in case it's important, I was using an MP4 file with H264 video codec and AAC audio codec.

OS: Windows 7 Home Premium SP1

I'm seeing the same problem. Even in version 17.12.0.

I usually get around by clicking "left" or "right" cursor key which will resume the video after seeking a bit left/right.

This happens in project preview as in clip preview. Both start at first after program launch but then the playbacks hangs when trying to start a second time.

One thing i've seen: When the edit gets bigger (more clips in the project) the "stuttering" after you try to "resume playback with seeking" gets longer. More clips in the timeline -> more stutter steps before the video resumes.

Problem is known for all Kdenlive Windows version. Root cause not found so far. Work around: hit space and the arrow key right.

If Kdenlive seems blocked as you descript hit CTR+Space. Now the play heat starts from beginning and you can click with the mouse into the timeline to play from there.

Ones Kdenlive crashes with clicking into the timeline please post the error message from the event viewer: windows+r -> eventvwr -> check the error messages with Kdenlive.
