textbox for changing nick has a number of issues, I list them in one ticket since they are all related to same item:

*) (SEVERE) don't allow mouse scrollwheel switching through a history-list of nicks in no time  
*) (NORMAL) have a "commit" (or OK, whatever you neame it) button next to Nick textbox, any Nick change needs a click on that button to take effect. Fixes above scrollwheel issue too.  
*) (WISH) Allow history "editing", at least "delete item" - e.g. via RMB context menu in dropdown  
*) (WISH) resize/shrink textbox to length of actually active and shown Nickname, not to item max_len in history
