Under Windows 10 and Thunderbird ( last version ) as email client, the send email feature is not fully working
After selecting photos, windows for resizing photos is open, photos are probably resized, thunderbird is launched, a new mail window is opened, but no photo attached to the email...

The SendEmail tool was rewriten by me in digiKam core with 5.7.0. Please try the pre-version available here :

I've tested your 5.7 Beta version ( x64 Windows ), the send mail tool is not anymore available in the tools menu...

It must be. It have been moved from "Export" to "Tools" main menu. It's now available in album View, Image Editor, Light Table, and Showfoto.

Unfortunnely it is only available in the Light Table mode...and it's working, after selecting Thunderbird as my mail client, a window message open 
"Windows don't find -compose, check you've entered the right name"

What would be fine is selecting the image in the album view, then click on send the email to .... the default email value image size is applyed and the email is created

One thing that what was cool with picasa ( and I didn't check how it's was working ), the temp attached file, where managed automatically, I mean I didn't need to close a windows to start the clean tmp file...

Is also an issue for my install 5.6.0 under Windows 10 and using Microsoft Outlook 2016 as default email client. While in thumbnail view, I clicked on Email Image button under Tools -  Post Processing (which seems strange to me that it is there rather than Export...). Brings up email compose window, however is blank with no image attachment or embedding. 

Anyone have status of when the 5.7 version will be released with a fix for email export?

Jeff, How do you add another binary (e.g. Outlook) to the list of binaries please?

Regarding the OP complaint, it seems to work with Windows 10/Outlook, the image is attached to an email.

However, I also checked "Attach a file with items properties" but I don't see a properties file attached to the Outlook email, just the image. Not 100% sure what to expect, is it a text file with metadata?


One other trivial observation: When using the Email Tool for the first time, even after configuring Outlook as the only email client binary in earlier stages of the wizard, the Email Settings dialog has 'Balsa' selected as the Mail Program. One has to select Outlook in the combo box again. Subsequent use of the Email Tool selects Outlook correctly.
